Sikorsky S-61

The Sikorsky S-61 is a medium-lift airliner, and a civilian variant of the Sikorsky SH-3 Sea King helicopter, introduced in 1961. The design for the original Sea King came about after Sikorsky won a development contract with the U.S. Navy. Once the model was approved, Sikorsky rapidly started working on a civilian variant of the aircaft, which were marketed as a transport rotorcraft. The two main variants were the S-61L and S-61N, the latter being the amphibious version of the initial model S-61L. These became the most popular airliners and oil rig support rotorcrafts in their service time.
