Fairchild Dornier Dornier 228-100/200

The original Dornier Do 228 is a twin-turboprop utility aircraft with STOL performance, designed and initially manufactured by Dornier GmbH. Dornier was inspired following the construction of a protoype utilising their newly innovated ‘TNT’ airfoil. Dornier decided to install twin TPE331-5 engines in the prototype, and after a successful flight decided to pursue development of a new model, presenting the initial Dornier Do 228-100 and -200 to the public in 1980. The Do 228 was STOL capable, offering seats for up to 19 passengers and proving to be a reliable and enduring aircraft. Today, it is utilised for a number of roles, including passenger or cargo transport, as well as military missions.
