Britten Norman Islander/Trislander

The Britten-Norman Trislander (formally BN-2A Mk III Trislander) is a three-engined piston-powered utility aircraft, manufactured by Britten-Norman. The Trislander was derived from the predecessing Islander, and designs were executed by founders John Britten and Desmond Norman. The focus of the Trislander’s design was to achieve STOL capabilities as well as an expanded payload. This was accomplished by stretching the fuselage, introducing fixed tricycle landing gear and a central third engine, on top of the fin of the aircraft. The Trislander was made able to operate from uneven surfaces, this combined with the additional load capacities made it successful in the market.
