Introduced in 1979, the Beechcraft 77 Skipper was developed with the aim to manufacture an easy to maintain, and low-cost aircraft for primary use in training facilities. Beechcraft had made the executive decision to incorporate a T-tail just before commencing productions. To surpass its competitors of training aircrafts the 77 Skipper has been built with side-by-side configuration seats, and was intended for low-speed aviation, utilizing a GA(W) – 1 airfoil. Other innovative constructions include tubular spars and honeycomb construction using bond-fastening, similarly to the 76 Duchess.
