ZLIN Z-242

The original Zlín Z 42 is a single-engine Czechoslovakian trainer aircraft, manufactured by Moravan Otrokovice. The Z 42 was newly developed in need of an aerobatic trainer with a two-seat configuration. One of the variants to follow was the Z 142, which became the most popular aircraft in the firms production line. In the late 1980s, further development work was initiated. A new four-cylinder Lycoming IO-360 engine was installed, and the airframe was modified with a wider cowling to facilitate for this engine. This aircraft was designated the Z 242 name.
