Sikorsky Uh-60 Black Hawk

The Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk is a twin-engine, medium-lift utility helicopter manufactured by Sikorsky Aircraft, produced since 1974. The design for the UH-60 was submitted for a competition announced by the United States Army’s Utility Tactical Transport Aircraft System (UTTAS), in 1972. They were looking to obtain a helicopter powered by the General Electric T700 engine, with enhanced performance and reliability. The Black Hawk was installed with a fully articulated four-blade main rotor, and the airframe was long and low-profile. Following a fly-off competition with the opponent, the Boeing Vertol YUH-61 the Black Hawk (designated YUH-60A) won the contract.
