Sikorsky Ch-124 Sea King

The Sikorsky CH-124 Sea King is a twin-engined anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and utility helicopter, manufactured by Sikorsky Aircraft for the Royal Canadian Navy. As attack submarines became more and more advanced, especially in the 1950s when nuclear-powered vessels became widely used, the RCN explored the idea of operating ASW helicopters from a landing platform installed on a modified frigate. This was initially successful, however under harsh weather conditions heavier rotorcrafts struggled to perform adequately, hence a need for a lighter, more capable aircraft was established, leading to productions beginning for the Sea King in 1961. The Sikorsky CH-124 Sea King remained in service until 2018.
