Piper Cub

The Piper J-3 Cub is a light aircraft, manufactured by Piper Aircraft, mainly utilised as a flight trainer. The design was a modified version of the predecessing Taylor E-2 Cub, which was altered through a process of heated arguements between the company’s president C. G. Taylor, leading engineer W. Jamouneau, with W.T. Piper resolving the issue by subsequently buying all of Taylors shares of the company, and proceeding with productions for the initial J-2 model. After a devastating fire in the Piper factory, Jamouneau had hastily commenced further developments for the aircraft, creating the J-3 for production. With changes made to the general structure of the airframe, the final result was a simple and affordable aircraft, which rapidly gained popularity in the aviation market. It was manufactured in large quantities, and was utilised mainly as a flight trainer, while also serving in several military roles during the Second World War.
