General Dynamics Convair 580

The Convair CV-580 was an airliner, based on the original Convair CV-240 commercial model, manufactured between 1947 and 1954. The general characteristics of these aircrafts inlcude twin-engine, low-wing monoplane configuration with all-metal construction. The aircraft had a pressurized cabin with 30 seats for passengers, which was later developed into the CV-340 with a longer fuselage, accomodating for additional seats. The later variant CV-580 was a conversion of the CV-340 and CV-440 aircrafts, perfomed by Pacific Airmotive. The new CV-580 was equipped with twin Allison 501 engines powering a four-blade propeller for improved performance, which was also achieved by the enlarged vertical fin and modified horizontal stabilizer. The CV-580 was utilised in military services accross the world.
