The Fokker 70 is a twin-engine, medium-range, turbofan regional airliner developed and produced by Fokker. The design of the Fokker 70 was based on the predecessing F28, and was developed to complement the larger Fokker 100. In 1992 Fokker decided to replace its aging F28 line with a modernised, cost-efficient aircraft, with seating for up to 85 passengers. The Fokker 70 was powered by two Rolls-Royce Tay 620 turbofan engines, mounted on the back of the fuselage. The aircraft became adequately successful in Europian countries, however due to Fokker becoming bankrupt in 1996 productions for the U.S.A. were no longer possible.
