The Enstrom 480 light helicopter was introduced in 1993, manufactured by Enstrom Helicopter Corporation. The company was influenced by an announcement by the United States Army, who revealed a requirement for a turbine-powered helicopter for flight training purposes. Enstrom Helicopter corporation had designed an extended version of its 280 Shark, utilising a Rolls-Royce Model 250-C20W turbine engine. Unfortunately, the newly created TH28 helicopter had not convinced the US Army to sign a contract, however due to the promising design, the commercial version of the aircraft was eventually put on production, under the name Enstrom 480 in 1993.
