Diamond Da20-C1

The Diamond DA20 C1 is a two-seat light aircraft, introduced in 1993 and became used mainly in flight schools. The original model was dubbed DV20, which utilises several features from the earlier Diamond HK36 Super Dimona. In order to meet the needs for the aircraft in North America, productions have been transferred to a Canadian facility, this is when the model had been re-named DA20. The Diamond DA20 C1, also known as Katana Eclipse, was successful in the market at the time, with more improved variants of the aircraft to follow. The DA20 C1 was powered by a 125 hp Continental IO-240 engine, the battery of the aircraft was relocated to allow for additional space for this engine. The previous Katana models were equipped with simple hinged flaps, however due to the increased weight more sophisticated, slotted flaps were essential to improve stall speed.
