British Aerospace Siddeley 748

The Hawker Siddeley HS 748 is a medium-sized turboprop airliner originally designed and produced by Avro, and was the latest aircraft they had developed before their dissolution. Developing the aircraft commenced in 1950s, as a means to gain recognition in the civil and export aviation market, and replace the widely utilised, but outdated Douglas DC-3s. To further ensure the success of the HS 748, Avro opted for the use of two Rolls-Royce Dart RDa 7 Mk engines, which were infamous at the time, and was optimalised to reliably perform STOL capabilities. The first Series were announced 1960. Later variants include the Hawker Siddeley HS 780, and the Super 748.
