Part of the Bombardier CRJ series, the CRJ1000 is a regional jet airliner designed and manufactured by Bombardier Aerospace (now Bombardier Aviation). Launched as the CRJ-X project, the initial model in the series was the CRJ700, which was derived from the CRJ100 and CRJ200 jets by elongating the fuselage and wings. Other minor changes were incorporated in order to improve aerodynamics, such as a new horizontal tailfin design. The CRJ705 variant was fitted with a business class cabin with seating up to 75, intended to be utilised for regional airlines.
