Boeing Rotorcraft 234 Chinook

The Boeing Vertol 234 Chinook is a twin engine heavy lift helicopter, derived and developed from the CH-47 Chinook military helicopter, manufactured by Boeing Defense, Space & Security in 1962. The helicopter features the unique construction of two main rotors mounted on pylons in the front and the rear of the aircraft, these were powered by Lycoming AL5512 engines, optimising the aircraft’s lift and thrust to achieve better performance. The twin-rotor 234 Chinook provided greater stability than conventional helicopters of the time, making it an excellent choice for both cargo and passenger transport purposes, as was offered to the commercial aviation market.
