Boeing P-8 Poseidon

The Boeing P-8 Poseidon (formerly known as the Multimission Maritime Aircraft) was developed by Boeing based on the predecessing 737-800ERX. The aircraft was proposed for a military requirement announced by the U.S. Navy, calling for a maritime patrol aircraft, that can be utilised in both anti-submarine warfare and anti-surface warfare operations. Most of the original features of the 737-800ERX were retained while developing the military variant, while introducing a strengthened fuselage, and re-envisioned nacelles and wing mountings for a smoother flying experience. A number of improved avionics were also installed in the P-8 Poseidon, as well as a variety of optional ordnance. The P-8 Poseidon entered service under the U.S. Navy in 2013.
