Boeing 757

The Boeing 757 is an American narrow-body airliner that was designed and manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes, introduced in 1983. Boeing had considered two designs to further develop their successful 727 trijet, which was intended to be more efficient and with improved performance. This was achieved through revised and modified aerodynamics and by utilising twin powerplants rather than a trijet or quadjet configuration, initially choosing Rolls Royce RB211-535C engines. This was later substituted with a more improved Roll-Royce model, as well as the Pratt & Whitney Canada PW2037. The 757-200 was the first variant in the family, which became a success in several roles, including transatlantic airliner and high-frequency shuttle operations. Boeing also developed a package frighter variant which entered service in 1987.
