Bell Ch-136 Kiowa

The Bell OH-58 Kiowa (later CH-136 Kiowa) is a family of single-engine, single-rotor, military helicopters used for observation, utility, and direct fire support. Bell Helicopter manufactured the OH-58 for the United States Army based on its Model 206A JetRanger helicopter. Bell had previously competed against 12 other companies, as part of a proposal made by the United States Navy to create a light observation helicopter, but came short against the rival companies. This, however lead to the production of the Bell 206A, which had eventually won the re-opened competition in 1967. The aircraft was designated as the OH-58A by the U.S. Army, and following timely naming conventions was given the Kiowa designation as well.
