The Bell 214 is a medium-lift helicopter, built and manufactured by Bell Helicopter in the United States. The design of the Bell 214 was derived from the popular predecessor series, the UH-1 Huey. Bell first announced the new model in 1970, with the “Huey Plus” name, which had been subsequently ceased by the time productions commenced in 1971. The construction of the Bell 214 used the airframe of the 205, installed with the more powerful, Lycoming T53-L-702 engine. In addition, the Bell 214 was upgraded with a more advanced rotor system, to improve on lifting capacity, while maintaining performance in harsher weather conditions.
